LONDON, 15th July. Answering a series of questions, the Prime Minister, Mr. MaeDonald, intimated that he was willing to grant an inquiry into Ministerial salaries if it was the general wish of the House.
Mr. Baldwin intimated that the Conservatives would welcome an inquiry. The House agreed to Mr. Greenwood, the Minister of Health's, resolution, to prevent lower subsidies on Housing Acts taking effect before the Government had elaborated a comprehensive slum-clearing policy.
Miss Bondfield, Minister of Labour, moved the second reading of the Unemployment Insurance Fund Bill, the effect of which will increase the Exchequer contribution to one-third of the aggregate amount of contributions, the cost to .the Exchequer bciua; £3,----500,000.
The Under-Secretary to the Board of Trade, Mr. W. B. Smith, said that he had received Home communications respecting the United States tariff increase, but had not made representations.
