The first week of the Wimbledon lawn tennis championships was com pleted yesterday. Fine weather through out the week permitted of excellent pro gress being made, and in the men's and women's singles the contestants are reduced to eight. These men are Cochet (France), who in the next round will play Timmer (Holland), Tilden (United States), who will play Landry (France) Borotra (France), who will play Lott (United States), and Austin (Britain), who will play yon Kehrling (Hungary). The women are Miss Helen Wills (United States), Miss Heine (South Africa), Miss Goldsack (Britain), MiBS Tapscott (South Africa), Miss M'llquham (Britain), Miss Helen Jacobs (United States), Mrs. Bundy (United States), ana Misss Joan Ridley (Britain).
