According to a record being kept by a local enthusiast, Mr; A. G. Wiren, the oounty championship, points prior to the series of matches mentioned to-day were:—Middlesex 64, Notts 62, Gloucestershire. 61, Kent 61, Derbyshire 56, Lancashire 56, Northants 54, Yorkshire 51, Surrey 44, Hampshire 43, Leicestershire 40, Warwickshire 39, Essex' 38, Sussex 37, "Worcestershire 32, Glamorgan 19, Somerset 11. Middlesex,' Kent, Lancashire, and Northants .had each played twelve matches, whereas Yorkshire had played only nine. Gloucester and Notts had had eleven engagements and Derbyshire ten.
