THAMES, This Day. Edward James Manhire, power board linesman, was charged before the Magistrate, Mr. F. "W. Platts, with taking two Maori girls over the age of 16 and under 18 from the care • of their guardian, with intent to commit serious crime. Manhire pleaded not guilty. : The evidence showed that he motored tie girls from the Kirikiri Native setwement to his shack at Patetonga, .where he kept them for two days. The accused was committed for trial. RaiJ was allowed.
