FORESTRY COMPETITION
Tlie Cotmcil of tho New Zealand Forestry League reports thaf for'the forestry competition this year there were eight entries in the senior division and two entries in the junior. '' This is the largest number received since the competitions were ina.ugurated," states the report, "and it is gratifying that four o£ these entries eam6 .from a secondary school,-Queen Margaret's' College;: It is to be hoped that such a spirit of rivalry will spring up. in other schools.
"The firsi prize is awarded to Miss Pat Fleming', of Wellington (also last year's winner),-with a fine collection. The second prize is awarded to Miss Monica Martin, of Ngaio,. and the third to Miss Betty' Day, of Queen Margaret's College, Wellington. The two .entries in: the junior division are Alice Kotte and Henry Eprte, who gave no botanical names and few common names. In this case the judge declared: a tie for first place, which means that the value of the prize will be divided between them." Miss Muriel Hunt was commended for her work in the senior division.
