A short session of the Legislative Council took place immediately after the opening of Parliament The HonJ Sir Thomas Mackenzie and.the Hon. Dr. Collins, who were reappointed to the Council last year but were not present during the last session, were formally sworn in. The Leader of the Council (the Hon. T. X Sidey) then, gave notice of motion in connection with a call of the Council on 10th Julr for the purpose of■• electing a Speaker. Ihe Hon. J. B. Gow gave formal notice of his intention to move the Address-an-Eeply motion. The Council thta adjourned until this afternoon.
