RONGOTAI COLLEGE
MORE ROOM NEEDED
Kegret that the Education Department had apparently not yet taken in hand the important ■work of providing increased accommodation, for next year wag expressed by the headmaster of Kongotai Boys' College in his report to the Wellington College Board of Governors yesterday afternoon. "The enrolment increased, this year by 25 per , cent, upon that of last year," stated Mr. Kenner. "If this rate is maintained I shall have to find room for 375 pupils here next year in a building which should accommodate 250 ■ (ten class-rooms each holding 25 pupils). The efficiency of the school is this year much impaired by the makeshifts that have to be adopted to accommodate 30ft pupils, and to provide th* variety of courses which a modern school should provide. You will understand what will be the position when the number is 375." Mr. Kenner also stated that the condition of the building had not improved. TJio windows were still a source of trouble, and after, every storm the plaster work of tho ceiling of the lower corridors became'more and morn affected. The interior of the school looked five tinies its real age.
