Eosevear, president of tho [Chamber of Commerce, presided, and explained that concern was felt at the announcement of the : Prime Minister that if the Government got a satisfactory price it would dispose' of the Maui Pomare. Disappbintment was v expressed that the vessel had failed from one cause or another to fulfil the hopes-that were: entertained regarding her,: but the meeting was emphatic in insisting that the service between the/islands and the, South Island, shonl.d,. be. .maintained. Owing to the frequency, .of mishaps arid other cause's the service'has/not hada fair chance of developing,- and with a suitable Ves3el'there'was/every reason: to believe the .?ervice v c6ul& be 'maintained with 'satisfactory: results'.
