FAIR TO FINE
MILDER
There was some scattered rainfall yesterday in districts' with a westerly aspect south of Kawhia as a result of a shallow wave of .low pressure. wh'Jih crossed the southern portion of the Dominion. At 9-a.m. to-day it was raining in parts of Foveaux Strait. Generally, however, the weather was fair to fine during the week-end, with moderate to fresh south-west to west winds prevailing. Temperatures have been cool and many frosts have been recorded, more especially in the South Island. Yesterday, though, conditions were temporarily rather milder. New Zealand is now covered by an anti-cy-clone, while pressure is falling in eastern Australia. '
-The indications are for moderate south-west to westerly winds, gradually veering to northerlies and freshening. The weather is expected to be fair to fine in most places with mild temperatures, but scattered showers are likely in- parts of Westlaild and about Foveaux Strait. , .■■-.-'
