' South Africa made 311 and 269 for six, declared, rain twice stopping play (Mitchell 61, Siedle 54, Morkel 42), Falcon taking two for 13 and Stevens two for 14. ; M.C.C. made 336 and 72 for one wicket (Allen, nttt out, 41, Duleepsinhji, not out, 27). Ochse took one- wicket for two.
