Afghan means "noisy" v or "turbulent," and the warlike tribesmen often seem .%o merit their,/name. They claim descent from the lost tribes of Israel, and many of them have distinctly Jewish features. Persian is their language of' the court. One of the finest' avenues in Paris, the Avenue dv Bois de Boulogne, has been named after the late Marshal Foch. The Paris municipal council has decided to call this avenue the "Avenue dv Marechal Foch." A statue of Foch will be erected at that end of the avenue at the entrance to the great park of the-Bois de Boulogne. The avenue begins at the Btoile. , where n situated ,tbe Arc da Triomphe. I
