LODGE MEETINGS
Island Bay Lodge of Druids held its quarterly meeting last Thursday. A.D. Bro: J. T. Linea was in the chair. The attendance was good, and included D.P. Bro. Ogden, P.D.P. Bro. J. Johnston, and e.O.e. Bro.. Worthington (Buller). One new member was initiated -and several were proposed for membership. The election oi officers., for the ensuing term resulted aa follows:—J.P.A., Bro. J. T. The quarterly meeting of Coronation Lodge, No. 26, 0.A.0.D.. was held last week, A.D. Bro. H. Laughton presiding over a large attendance. Visitors included P.D.B Bro. Worthington. from Westpon. and the R.A.C. examining officers, P.D P # I Bro Johnston and P.A. Bro. Reeves. One member was admitted by clearance. The Grand United Order ol Oddiellows opened a new ladies' branch. Rose 0 the Valley, at Petone last Wednesday. Bro Morgan District Master, opened the £ casiona) district lodge, district officers preTii n"J?J? r% MorE?T n' DM- Bro- Boswell, D.D.M., Bro. ' Norton, D.S., Bro Hutchms dist. treas.. Sis. Hooper, Bro Casey and Bro Heathcote, dist. trustees'. Ine tollowmg Grand Lodge officers were also visitors: Bro Bain, G.M., Bro. Bradstock, G.S., Bro. Chorley, g. trustee, Bro Slynes, Bro. Hey. and Bro. Murphy, g. directors. Members representing all branches were also present. Sister Lawler Captain Cook Lodge. Ashfield, Sydney was also present. After the reading of the dispensation the Grand Master was asked to dedicate the lodge. Sister Trethaway N.G., and Sister Hooper, P.N.G., of Star of Newtown, were asked to officiate for !the purpose of initiating new members. The meeting was then adjourned. On resuming'Bro. Boswell. Dep Dis. Master, acted as chairman,and called for nominations for officers. The election resulted as follows:—Sister E. MacCormick, P.N.G ; Sis. Davies, N.G.;'. Sis. Hey, V.G.; Sis Martin, F.Si; Sis. P. MacCormick. Rec. Sec; Sis. Tyley, treasurer. After closing a social was held, at which Sis. Lawler and Bro. Ryde were the chief contributors to the programme. Loyal Central branch G.U.0.0.F. hela a very successful meeting last Thursday. Bro. J. Slynes, N.G., presiding and Bro Morgan, P.N.G;, supervising. Four broth ers were reported on the sick roll, and payment was passed accordingly. Five new members were'admitted and one proposed. Bro^ Ryde, Newtown Alpha, and Sis. Ryde, Star of Newtown. were visitors.
Newtown Alpha Branch. G.U.0.0.F held its usual meeting last Wednesday. Bro. Ryde, N.G*., presiding and Bro. Bar nett. P.N.G., supervising. Bro. Goggan was nominated as district. lecturer to the District Council. Six new members were initiated.
