The motor passenger and cargo vessel West-tralia-was recently launched by Harland- and Wolff for the Australia-New Zealand service of Huddart, Parker, and Co.' • She Is 449 ft long, with a. beam of 60ft, and a depth of 33ft 6in, the gross tonnage being In the neighbourhood.of 8400. Two' eight-cylinder Har-land-B. and_.W.' engines will be fitted. The Westralla, which will carry 361 first class and 90 third class passengers. The > New Zealand Shipping Company's second new motor liner, the Rangitata, a sister ship to the Bangltlkl, has been; launched. A Press Association message from Auckland states that Japanese buyers have purchased the 6957-ton Federal steamer Sussex for about £17,000. The, Sussex, which was built by Hawthorn, Leslie, and Co., Ltd., at Newcastle In 1900. was one of the original full-powered steamships built for the Federal Steam Navigation Company, Ltd., of London, and made her maiden visit to New Zealand in January, PORT NICHOLSON TO LOAD. The Port Nicholson, which is on her way from Australia to load at New Zealand ports, reports bj, radio that she expects to arrive at Auckland at 6 a.m. to-morrow.
