HASTINGS, sth June. At a combined conference of dele-' gates of the Hastings Borough' Council, Chamber of Commerce, Botary . Club ■ General Labourers', Union, Betailers' Association, as well as,private citizens held last night to discuss the unemployment problem, the following motion was unanimously carried:—"That this meeting representative of Hastings local bodies and civic .organisations urge upon the Government the' necessity of establishing an unemployment' insurance system, and that the subsidy system be amended to permit the granting of a subsidy to works involving 50 per cent, capital expenditure in lieu.of 40 per cent." . .
