In London thevannual birthday cere* mony of the .trooping of the colours took place; on'tho Horse Guards Parade. As Usual, this; bfillfent picture o£ ceremonial was.': watched' by a huga crowd. ' In thio absence of the Kuqg, hia uncle, the Duke of Connaught, took the salute. ' He- was' - accompanied by the Prince of Wales, ther Dukejof York, and Viscount LasceUesi; the! King's son-in-law. Powers took part in. the pageant, and the officers and men on. parade nuiitbered fully 2000, consisting Jpf r two troops of the Life Guards^ one of thai First Battalion of ,the;Crreiiadier Guards, one guard from eacli of the three battalion's of the Coldstream Guards, two guards of the First Battalion- of thai Scots Guards," two guards of; the Second:' Battalion of the-'Scots'Guards, and the massed Guards' Bands.
