; AUCKLAND, This Day. The weather still holds good for the conclusion of the Auckland Eaeing Club's Meeting, and with a steady barometer the prospects are encouraging for a successful wind-up. The ■fields have kept up particularly well. Maidos may make amends for his first day failure in the Tamaki'Steeplechase, but Kauri Park cannot be disregarded. Much interest will be centred in Airtight's first appearance at the meeting. If .Overhaul starts in the Orakei Hurdles, in which his correct weight is lOst 131b, he will be a good. favourite. In-his absence Otairi and Prince Lv may do the best work.
The York Handicap is a toueli race. Seatown and King Lv will be in the market.- The Hawk w a notable newcomer, and Hyde Park and Mosque also '■will 'have friends. The Lover. and' Marble King finished well yesterday. Valkon is the one expected to show considerable improvement, and if ..ridden by E Beed, -may trouble Seatown a-nd King Lv most. :: ■ ■ •.•■' . - !. -■■.- °
In the Winter Steeplechase,-Wedding l£arch appeals most of the top weights, but Uralla again cannot be disregarded while Mangani did not go far'in. the Northern owing to the rider-.losing an won. Potoanui and Mauhga are likely hght-weights. Preference is.for Mangani and Maunga. ' -':■-■•:■■-^' _. Bright Land should see a short' price in the Campbell Hurdles. Kilburn may be the best of. the rest, for although making his first start at the .meeting, there is little amiss with him. Lady bpalpeen's correct Weight is 9st. 'There is a poor class field in the Visitors' Handicap, and Gold Money should start a good favourite. Awarere and Oration are a pair who look like coins good races, and Awarere has to improve only a little on the first day to be hard to beat. "•-•• '
