V.M.C.A. DRAW WITH INSTITUTE.

Soccer <Joes not seem to attract a crowd at Petone,, and only a handful of spectator* witnessed Saturday's game between Y.M-C.A. and Institute. A somewhat Tagged game developed in favour of Y,M.C.A., but the game, marred at one stage. by an unwarranted display of ill-feeling on Institute's part, ended in a draw without lay score being registered by either side. Y.M.C-A. kicked off, the opening stages of the gains developing raggedly. Institute preaaed, but a free-kick enabled Y.M.C.A. *° relieve the pressure, and they in tpFB attacked. Neither side, however, at this stage displayed an atom of combination. Kigby handled the ball through Institute's goal, no score, of course, being allowed, and then Institute attacked very strongly, Faulty, not to say bad, shooting, however, prevented anything coming of it. Institute at this stage were having the better of the game. Towards half-time play brightened up considerably, and botn sides put up gome good forward ruM. each goal being bombarded in turn. Hill-time was reached without any score. Upon changing ends, Y.M.CA. more or less took charge of the game, and it was due chiefly to the Institute's goalkeeper that Y,AJ,Q.A. did not register quite a big tally, Institute, however, "made a number of spectacular dashes, but none of these was productive of anything more thw eornera, Arraitage, at centre-half, played » sterling game for V.M.C.A., as also did Boe at right-half, and the right vying-forwards (Worth, M'Leod, and ReyJingJ also worked hard, tat they found jt impossible to score. The game thus ended in a draw, without any Bcore, hut on the play Institute were lucky not to have had a loss recorded against them. Mr. G. Jackson controlled the game ■with a, firm. hand.
