In a stern •truggle at the Basin Reserve, Diamond maintained their unbeaten record by defeating Petone by the odd goal in three, and finished, the championship round without a defeat. One of their games, that against Marist, may have to be replayed, As a result of their fine performance, Diamond have a substantial hold upon the championship. Saturday's football was temarfeible. also for the fact that out of four senior games three matches ended in; a draw, and p£ those three, two were played without any score being registered. On No, 2 ground at the Basin Reserve the Mariet-Waterside game ended l-l. Marist snjoyed, the advantage throughout the match, but could only penetrate . the Waterside defence onee —early in the second spell. Shortly before the call of time Waterside evened, and Marist were unable to score again. The two other senior games were also drawn, both being goalless, The V.M.C.A.-Institute game, played at Petone, was contested in a very ' lively manner, and the referee had to use a firm hand in maintaining order.
