The Otaki Maori Eacing Club was again favoured with fine weather for the conclusion of. its Winter Meeting to-day. There was an exceptionally large holiday crowd, tnree trains bringing a big quota from Wellington. As a result of a heavy frost overnight the track was somewhat holding, but was still in excellent order considering the season. So great was the crowd, unofficially stated to be a record, that race books were at a premium a comparatively short time after the races commenced. Bed Bank still led up the back from Bakaukauponga 9.8 (L. Mathieson), 5 Sneerer Entering the straight Bed Bank was still in charge from Tresham, Modern, Bakauponga, Sneerer, Peshwa, and Lady Gay. The last flight of hurdles was practically down, and Modern raced away from the opposition to beat Tresham by ten lengths. Three lengths further back came Bed Bank, and 7 Eakauponga was fourth, in front of a close division. Time, 3min 2sec. (Winner trained by A. Goodman, Trentham.) When the field settled down Grattan was in front from Warzone, Catuna, and Moutoa . Fume. Grattan was just in front of Catuna and Warzone racing into the straight, with Naselle and Moutoa Fume well placed of the others. In the run to the post Grattan stayed on best to beat Waizone by three-quarters of a length. Naselle was two and a half lengths away third, just in front of Catuna. Kotahi Eka led into the straight from Werata, Pompadour, Animated, Wine Tray, and Half Acre. In a great race to the post Werata got -up to beat Kotahi Eka by a head. Tcheka was still in I front entering the back stretch from Briar Boot, Paitonu, Anolo, Kilbronsyth, Shrewd, Borsalene, and Maui. I With threo furlongs to go, Briar Boot | and Tcheka were together in front of Paitonu, Anolo, Maui, Shrewd, and Borsalene. Briar Boot led into the straight from Tcheka, Paitonu, Maui, and Anolo, but once in line for the post Paitonu put in a fine run which, landed him a winner by two lengths from Tcheka, Tcheka lasted just long enough to hold off the fast-finishing Maui by three-quarters of a length. straight. Going up the back stretch 1 Money Mint joined Fine Acre in front, the pair being followed by Monetize, Marjoram, Fallow, Hatteras, and Royal Black. Money Mint was just in front of Fine Acre tnrning into the straight, next coming Marjoram and Monetise, with Fallow and Boyal Black also close up. Over the last furlong Fine Acre ran on well and withstood a determined challenge from Boyal Black to win by half a neck. Once in the straight First Acre challenged strongly and actually head.cd Consent momentarily, but Morris, riding a vigorous finish on Consent, brought him home a head in front of First Acre.
