Yesterday's poll in the ity cannot bu regarded as heavy, judging by the
numbiT of votes cast in the Mayoni election, which affords a fairly accur
ite gaugo of the volume of public iucrest. Un the provisional count made
nst evening, 20,5>9t> persons voted, comiaied with 21,197 at the elections two
years ago. The roll was greater this this year, owing chiefly to the inclusion of '.iaiuaki ami Avondale in the city, tho total being 47,790.
