In a letter read at this morning's meeting the Minister of Education stated that he did not consider it advisable to adopt the suggestion that boards should be allowed to give trainees their first permanent appointment without competition He would make inquiries as to whether it was not possible to carry on ex-students as supernumeraries with salaries equal to the training college allowances until their services v-ere required on permanent or relieving staffs.
