"MISTAKES" OF CITY COUNCIL
At Khandallah Mr. J. Tucker, Labour candidate- for the Oity. Council and Hospital Board, said that the suburban areas of fho city had been neglected by the City Council;- footpaths and streets arc in some cases in a deplorable state. Darlington street, Miramar, was. not only a disgrace but 'a danger, especially to children going to school.' Khandallah and Ngaio were in similar position so, far as footpaths were concerned. The Mayor, in his address to business men, asked for constructive criticism, and when it was offered hirn'by tho Labour Party he called it destructive. All structural criticisms, like all large buildings,, must' have their foundations tested. Labour, in digging' and.excavating, had found at tho foundations of tho City Council business policy.'the, Noi'thland Tunnel mistake, tho."widening of Taranaki street and Levy building" mistake, and the Bond street .and St. Hill street blunder —business blunders that •. no -private, concern would tolerate for one minute. Now they were asked to elect the same gentlemen'to . control the business of the city. ... '','.'
