The public "attention had been aroused and the light thrown upou many issues, such as the star-chamber methods of the Finance Committee, the stroetwi'dening. schemes, neglect of the footpaths and streets, and the failure of the council to deal in anything- like an effective manner with unemployment, must show good results no matter how the elections went.
