PUBLIC INTEREST AROUSED
Speaking at Blair street last evening, Mr. H. Leesj Labour candidate for the City Council, commented on the fact that quite evidently the Labour Party's criticism of the City Council's policy in regard to many aspects of municipal life had been most effective. The public "attention had been aroused and the light thrown upou many issues, such as the star-chamber methods of the Finance Committee, the stroetwi'dening. schemes, neglect of the footpaths and streets, and the failure of the council to deal in anything- like an effective manner with unemployment, must show good results no matter how the elections went.
