ARE MEN COLOUR BLIND?
' (From "the Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 19th February. At the Transport Commission's meeting Mr. MeryynO'Gorman, vice-presi-dent of the Eoyal Automobile ■ Club, declared that the employment of red lights was almost , useless, :as; 25 per' cent, of the male population was practically or totally colour blind.' The use of the red light in connection with motor-cars should be abolished/be said. .It was an inheritance from the railway companies. The Chairman (Sir Arthur GriffithBoscawen): "Why male 'motorists?" ' "Because no woman is colour blind. (Laughter.) That is one of the reasons why men usually do-not care about colour in their dress: and why women always do." (Laughter.) Mr. o'Gorman later stated that he i was not in favour of a test before a driving license was issued. It would not add a fraction to the safety of the 1 public on roads/ A man who was completely deaf was well able to drive a car. Speed limits were opposed to the whole principle by which safety could be ensured.'. !■••.. .-•-,.
