A quack physician onccadvertised that ,he had found .means of:rejuvenating the most aged of women :in two days. All they had to do was to come to his office, after haying, mailed him, the day before, a card giving their full name and correct age—the latter was, very important. When his clients appeared he said to them: "I misplaced your cards, and I 'shall have to ask you .to fill them out again. This is Ivory important, because after a certain ago my philtre doesn't work."

The next day they all came back, bring: ing a new. card; but each one had taken off at least twenty years. The doctor then brought forth the original cards and compared them with the new.ones.

"Ladies," he said; "you see here very plainly that you'have been rejuvenated in forty-eight hours. I now await my fee."
