A BOY'S DREAM

Arthur, tho oldest son ot Henry VII., was sent to live as a boy under tho care of Lord Venion at Haddon Hall, a beautiful old houso which may still bo scon in. Derbyshire. Unknown to tho Princo himself, the King married him "by proxy" at tho ago of sixteen to Catherine, daughter of Kino Ferdinand of Castile and Arragon. Strange for a husband not to know that he was marriod! But this odd form of marriago was perfectly binding, although, as tho natui suggests, tho bridegroom only appeared at tho ceremony by deputy. However, Arthur was very happy at Haddon Hall till one day, when oui walking, he chanced to fall asleep at the foot of an ancient cross, more than a thousand years old, which is still standing. He awoko vory frightened for ho dreamed that he was just going to bo married to somebody whom he had never heard of beforo and that he would dio soon afterwards. Homo he ran, where, sure enough, news awaited him that he must go instantly to London to solemnise over again this marriage with Catherine, who had Just landed from Spain. The first part of his dream soon came - truo; there took place a very splendid wedding, at which popple spent fortunes in presents and display. And, unfortunatofy, the second part of ..his queer dream also came true only four months later, when he died. His early death was a great blow to England, for he was a sweet and able boy, and, had ho' lived, Honry VIM. would never have come to the throno. In the Victoria and Albert Museum there Is shown a wonderful oaken cupboard which belonged to Prince Arthur, with his Initial beautifully carvod in the top panel.
