A REAL INNOVATION
One of the most amusing', features of a recent artificial silk exhibition held iji London was the advent of the male mannequin. lie appeared, pipe in mouth, and complexion bronzed and impeccable, among the' butterfly girls'who were showing off the latest creations, states a London writer, and with no truce, of shyness arid as to the- manner born, exhibited lurid dressing gowns, vainbow-hued pyjamas, silk tennis suits of immaculate whito —and the perfect suit for a. man to wear on -a hot summer's day (nest summer maybe!) This consisted of a low-necked coat or "jumper" and running shorts, aud was carried out in delicate browns and. blues of softest silk. The idea was really Lady Rhondda's, for when she Visited the exhibition she- deplored the' ugliness and uniformity of men's .drab clothes, and suggested that they should look far more attractive and certainly be much ' healthier, clad iff silk, ■Within' eight hours of this pronouncement, .the first silk suit made, its appearance. Its arrival at the Mannequin Parade was greeted with cheers and laughter, but ho will be -a brave man who first, ventures on the street wearing such delectable attire!
