DAY A WEEK OFF GRANTED
'"For some weeks now, by a readjustment of the hours of. service: of the nursing' staff, nurses, have;.been getting a day a week off; this we hope to continue,' ' said Mr.. C. M. Luke, chairman of the Wellington Hospital Board, at a meeting of the board on Wednesday. In outlining'tho new works to be under* taken, Mr. Luko"reinarked that "a,word should also be said «joncerriing the necessity for a further addition to the Nurses' Home; this was. consequent upon the general expansion and the needs of "the staff to enable them to enjoy the day a week off from their trying conditions of service. This has been oxpected to be provided by us no* only by the general public but also bg the Government, which, has urged tliitj upon all hospitals where it is possible to give the staff the day a week off. 1'
