Mr.-T. B. M'Neii, S.M., presided over the monthly sitting of the Petonc Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. David Childs Kay was fined £2, in default seveu days' imprisonment, i'or a breach of his prohibition order. For being- found on licensed premises after hours Eustace Evelyn Shofer was fined £2. Reginald Kenwyn Can; for dangerous driving, was convicted and ordered to pay costs, 365. For having uo tail-light on his motorlorry, Norman Jolm. Henry ■ Strawbridge was fined £3.. . Speeding oust William Alexander, Toogood ii nd John Shelley - £2 .each. A fine uf 10s was imposed, upon Joseph Sheldon for leaving his motor-cycle unattended in Jackson street-for longer than ten minutes. William Edward.Lethaby, who was £5i Ms in arrears of maintenance, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended while he pays 23s Gd per week, being current maintenance, and '2s 6d off the. arrears.: An application by the defendant for a variation of the order was dismissed. . Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in :tho following undefended civil cases:—Christina Palamountaiu v T Macintosh, £11 ss; J. W. M'Ewa'u v. W. Withers, £18 16s 6d; K. J. James v. T. P. O'-Neill . and C. O'Neill (separate estate), £5 12s 6d; Hull Cabinet Co., Ltd., v. C, T. Offord, £1 Is. On a judgment, summons, H. W. Gardiner was ordei-pd to pay Barber and Whetton £24 2s at the rate of £1 per month, iv default 24 days' imprisonment; A Wallace to pay Lucy A. Burns £31 4s at the rate of £2 per month, in default 31 days' imprisonment; J. Rao to pay IT. H. Broad £6 14s at the rate of_£l per week, in default seven days' imprisonment.
