SHUNTER INJURED
CONDITION;. SERIOUS
Whilo shunting "operations were in progress in tho Thorndon railway yards about half past 7; ; las- nigh,t William Oman, aged 42;- a-, married man, who lives in tho Railway Settlement at Eaiwarra, had ;both feet.'severed at the ankles by the wheels,of a wagon which passed over them.
It is understood that/goods wagons were being marshalled and Oman, was returning across the tracks on the eastern side of the station after switching • points, when a single truck suddenly appeared. Ho tried ~to jump aside but fell, and the wheels of the truck passed over his legs.., After attention had been given to the injured man he was taken^to the Hospital by the City Ambulance, and he is now reported as being dangerously ill.
The injured man's condition this afternoon. was 'unchanged..
