WEDDINGS

A recent wedding solemnised at the Thorndon Methodist Church was that of Jessie Ellen, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Browne, Raroa road, Kelburn, and Arthur Frederick, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Goatham, Obau street, Highland Park. The bride, who was escorted by her father, woro a simple frock of'white .georgette and silver lace, with a touch of pink at the, waist. Her long tulle veil formed the train, being held in place by a-wreath of orange blossoms. She also carried a beautiful shower bouquet of roses, sweet sultans, and maidenhair fern. Her bridesmaids were Misses Eizpah Browne (chief) and Dulcio Browne, who were dressed alike in frocks of blue shot taffetas, with silver and pearl headbands, their bouquets being of mauve and pink to tone with their frocks. Mr. W. F. Browne, junr., was best man and Mr. E. Gregory groomsman. ■ Miss Worboys presided; at the organ, and the service was fully choral, the bride having been organist of the church for tho past three years and the bridegroom also having been a member of the choir. Tho church had been decorated by friends of- the bride and bridegroom, the decorations including a beautiful bell, under which they stood during the ceremony. As the bride left tho church she was presented with a silver key by little Edna Goatham to mark her coming of age. The reception which followed was attended by about 120 guests,-and was most enjoyable, the occasion being the more interesting as it-also marked the silver wedding of the bride's parents. Later the bride and bridegroom left by car for the North, the bride wearing a brown charmalino frock, trimmed with fawn, and a brown and fawn felt hat. A quiet wedding was solemnised recently,at St.: Mark's" Church, Wellington, when Miss Eileen U.. Exton was married-to Mr. Wallace S. Thorpe, the Rev. L. A. Barnes 'officiating. The bride, who was accompanied by. her father, woro a beautiful frock of white tulle, with long, full, frilled skirt, the tight-fitting bodice, also of tulle, being tucked and with a transparent yoke and long sleeves coming to a point over the hand. The underskirt was of white taffeta, finished with a large taffeta bow at back. The tulle veil, worn over the face, formed the train, and was held in place by a-cap of shirred tulle with rows of orange blossom buds. The wedding' bouquet was a posy of yellow flowers. Miss Dorothy Hawker was tho. bridesmaid, and was prettily frocked in buttercup yellow- with full frilled tulle skirt and tight sleeveless bodice of taffeta, finished with a large taffeta bow at the side. With this was worn a largo picture hat of stitched taffeta with transparent crown of tulle. Tho posy carried was deep, autumn tints. Mr. Raymond Extoii was best man. After the -ceremony' relatives and intimate friends were entertained at afternoon tea by the bride's mother. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace. S. Thorpe loft later for the North, the brido wearing a frock of beige crepe satin with a velour hat and a musquash coat. They will make their future home in the Waikato.

An evening wedding was solemnised at the Church of -Christ, -, Swanston street, Melbourne, recently when Harold O'Connor, B.Sc, Assoe, M. Inst. C.E. (late of Wellington) was married to Ivy Adeane, of Auckland. The bride wore a dainty frock of pale blue georgette hand embroidered with silver true-lovers knots,, a silver turban and shoulder posy of silver roses, her shower bouquet being of pale pink carnations and asparagus ".fern. . Mrs. George Walker (late of Remuera, Auckland) was matron of -honour, and Miss E. Price, of Melbourne, was bridesmaid. A wedding of interest to- a large circle of friends was solemnised in the Vivian street. ..Baptist Church by the Ecv. F. E. Harry, assisted by tho Eev. A. W. Bean, of Auckland, when Marion Mosley, second daughter of Mr. and Mrß. J. R. Samson, Kelburn,-was married to Petor: Livingstone,^ youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. :T. H. Wilson, Epsom, Auckland. There was a full attendance of tho church choir, of which the brido and bridegroom were members. Mr. Charles • Collins 'presided at -the organ. '' TliO' bride); who 'entered the church "with her -.father,.', wore-..a; longsleeved Parisian .frock of ..ivory .satin and mariette, over pale .pink-crepe-de-chine, tho plain corsage of satin beiijg hemstitched to the circular petalled skirt, daintily finished with ivory and pink mariette" roses. Her veil of Dummaguden Indian lace was arranged in: mob cap stylo with a coronet of orange blossom, and the shower bouquet was of white roses, sweet sultans, and maidenhair fern. Twin sisters of the brido, Misses Kathleen and., Eileen Samson, attended, wearing tight-fitting sleeveless bodices, of amber and applfi green mariette ' respectively, trimmed with amber and pink velvet blossoms. They wore bandeaux of silver leaves and carried bouquets of amber and pink flowers. Each was the recipient of an opal ring from the bridegroom. The two little flower girls, Marion and Ailsa Scott, of Dunedin, wore frocks of frilled pink marietta with. blue and pink rosebuds and shoulder posies. .They carried baskets of . roses, and acted as. trainbe.arers to the bride. Mr. Rowland Barker was best man, and Mr. George Ivory groomsman. At the close of the ceremony, by a neat device, a shower of pink and white rose petals fell from a floral bell over the bridal couple. A reception was afterwards held .in the Oddfellows' Hall,' 160 guests being received by Mrs. Samson, who,was gowned in black silk lace with an' undcrdress-of maize mariette. She wore a black satin hat and her bouquet was of red roses and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom's mother was in black satin with touches of cerise and gold, with a bouquet of autumn tints. Tho guests included Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Wilson and Miss E. Wilson (Auckland), Mr. ana Mrs. Peter Wilson, Mr. M. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilton (Tokomaru), Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Cauty and Miss 'Canty, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hay and Miss Hay (New Plymouth), Mrs. W. Scott (Dunedin), and the Rev. Murray Hunter (Scotland). Later Mr. and Mrs. Wilson left on their wedding tour, the brido wearing' a frock , of golden brown satin with nigger brown hat and fur. coat to match, the latter being tho gift X>l the bridegroom.
