STRAND THEATRE.

"The Woman- Disputed," featuring Norma ■Talmadge, is now -in its second week at the Straw! 1' Theatre. She tnay bo said by her. perfect acting to dominate the picture, although every one of the principals gives of- his best. Opening in an unusual fashion, the story deals with the redemption of a woman who is saved from her former mode of life by tho kindness of two men, one of whom subsequently wins her love. Although the theme is a daring and unconventional one, tiie restrained presentation and the flawless performances of the principals make it both convincing and wholesome. In the role of tin; woman who meets her salvation only to sacrflce it for her country, Norma Talmadge conveys her real worth as an emotional actress. Although her past performances, have long since raised her to a position among the leading players of the screen., her characterisation in tills film places her on a higher pedestal than ever before, and must serve to make her enviable position even more secure. Second only to her portrayal is the acting of Gilbert Roland and Arnold Kent, as tho two friends. Although they have been responsible for much fine work in tho past they have risen to greater heights in this picture.
