IDLE AND DISORDERLY
John Anderson, aged 40, admitted to Mr. J. S.- Barton in the Magistrate's Court to-day being a rogue and vagabond, in that lie had insufficient lawful means of support and had- been previously con-, •victed as an idle and disorderly person on 3rd December, .1928. . . • .
Senior-Sergeant Butler said tlia.t Anderson was found by a constable in Cuba street at 2 o'clock this morning. The accused said he had no place to go to,, nor any morioy. The Magistrate said that since 1923 the accused has spent 3 years and 3 months altogether in gaol on charges of this sort, and had ten previous convictions for such charges. "The only thing to do," concluded 3VK Barton, "is to give him a long sentence. He will be housed and fed and given regular work." Anderson ■ was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, with hard labour.
