An extensive' anticyclone has been covering New Zealand and the Tasman Sea, Its centro, this morning, being situated in the neighbourhood of the Chatham Islands. Although barometers have been high over the Dominion 1 as a whole they have been relatively low In northern iiarts, with the result that south-east to east winds have prevailed, and scattered rain has fallen on the east coast of the North Island. There have also been some isolated falls in north Westland. Otherwise the weather has been fair, with cold temperatures generally and decreasing winds.
