ST. PATRICK'S COLLEGE
OLD BOYS' ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the old boys of St. Patrick's College was held at the collego last evening to discuss tho constitution of an Old Boys' Association, and to elect officers for the year. There was a very large attendance, and the proceedings were marked with enthusiasm.
The jector, the Very Beverend Father B. J; Ryan, S.M., M.A., himself an "Old Boy," presided. He said that tho School now had a record roll of over 250. There was an argent need of an Old Boys' Association to provide a common centre for welJ over 2000 "old-boys."
A full constitution for the new association was approved by tho meeting. Tho objects are stated' to' be the fostering of ttie aims for which . St. Patrick's College was founded, the promotion of a spirit of comradeship among tho "old boys" and the active interest of all "old boys" in the wellboing of the college. *
A vote moved by Mr. M. J. Crombie and seconded by Mr. W. S, Hickson was, carried in silence, expressing, the sympathy of the meeting to the Wellington College Old Boys' Association in the loss of its valued officer,' ;Mr. Walter Bethune. The secretary was instructed to write to thia effect to tho Wellington College Old Boys' Association, and also to Mrs. Bethune.
The nomination of a number of honorary life members was left to a future meeting.
The following officers were elected for the year:—Patron, the rector of the president, Dr. P. F., M'Evedy; vice-presidents, Messrs. B. M'Carthy (Hawera), M. J. Crombie, W. S. Hiekson, T. P. Cleary, F. C.M'Pariand; hoix. secretary, Mr. R. J. Beardon; hon. treasurer, Mr.- D. Madden; committee, Messrs. F. Grogan, W. Gamble, L. Day, F. M'Parland; auditor, Mr. B. A. Guise.
