HARBOUR SWIM

C. E. CLARIDGE'S INTENTIONS

Had conditions been suitable, O. E. Claridge, the well-known Wellington swimmer, was to have made an attempt to swim across the harbour on Sunday last. However, Claridge, in view of the conditions prevailing, decided to postpone his attempt until this Sunday. Claridge had intended to swim from Eastbourne to Wellington, but it is understood that his plans are now to follow the same course as that taken by the Auckland swimmer, R. J. Webster, starting from the Ferry Wharf in Wellington about 10.30 a.m. A well-provisioned boat will follow Claridge throughout, and at various stages he will be accompanied in the water by some of Wellington's most' prominent swimmers.
