Extending over a frontage of thirtyfive miles, a chain of bush fires in the Adelaide Hills destroyed a thousand acres of timber and grazing property, and endangered townships and homesteads. The damage'runs to many, thousands. Stock losses were comparatively small, but the fate of 500 sheep at Forostville is unknown. One firo-fighter collapsed in a serious condition. ' '■•'■■•..-■
