MELROSE AFFAIRS
RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION
The annual meeting of the Melrose Ratepayers' Association last evening was well attended. Mr. E. P. Flaws was in the chair. The annual report showed that the association had done useful work during the past year. The bus service had been improved and the trouble which the residents of the district had experienced from cows being driven along the footpaths had been removed. Extension and renovation of the association's hall had also been undertaken.
The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. E. P. Flaws; vicepresident, Mr. C. B. C. Palmer; secretary, Mr. F. C. Zantuck; treasurer, Mr. P. W. Boyd; committee, Messrs. W. Dob son, C. W. Martin, A. Dobson, R. Mexted, and J. Jackson, and Mesdames Flaws and Zantuck; delegates to the Eastern Suburbs League, Messrs. Boyd, Mexted, and Jackson; delegates to the Civic . League, Messrs. Palmer and Flaws; solicitor, Mr. E. H. Brooker; auditors, Messrs. G. Bradley and W. Williamson; Press reporter, Mr. C. B. C. Palmer.
It was decided to approach the City Council requesting that attention be given to the improvements necessary in Eodrigo and Sutherland roads, Antico street, and Sutherland and Melrose crescents.
Mr. P. W. Boyd was elected as the association's nominee for the Civic League ticket for the City Council election.
