THREATENED IN FRANCE

NEGLECT OF ARMY IN COLD

Australian tress AhocUUob.

LONDON, 11th March.

The Paris correspondent of the "Daily Express" states that a political crisis is threatening owing to the heavy death roll among the Trench troops on the Bhine, alleged to be due to culpable nelect during the recent icy weather. More than two hundred are stated to have died from exposure while on duty or for want of adequate attention. Consequently public opinion is whipped to fury and Parliamentarians insist that the; scandal should be thoroughly sifted. Hitherto the military authorities have asserted that the deaths were due to influenza, but a Parliamentary Mission frdm Paris will investigate the causes. A strong outcry against tho Government is developing. .-■■,• '-„*-.'' "• -y v •'•"
