GAMING LAWS

AUCKLAND, This Day. A protest against any loosening of the present gaming laws wag voiced at a meeting of the Auckland Council of Christian Congregations last evening. At the instance of tho Rev. Dr. J. J. North, it was decided to communicate with, tho Prime Minister pointing out that the part played by the present laws in restricting gambling and stating that his policy of restricting gambling to the racecourse would be seriously interfered with ■ if the publication of tips and dividends were allowed in the newspapers and telegraphed bots accepted at the totalisatOr.
