DELHI, 7th March,
Speaking in the Council, of State at Now Delhi yesterday, Jfield-Marshal Sir William Birdwood, referring 10 the Kabul evacuations, said that the magnificent results achieved were due to the | efficiency of the air service. He emphasised that the operations were not of a military character, and the K.A.F. 'planes, flying to Kabul, carried no bombs or machine-guns and the pilots no signal pistols; The total numberof those evacuated was 586, including 342 Indians, 57 Germans, 49 Turks, 25 Persians, 23 British and French, and 19 Italians. Nadir Khan has left Peshawar for Parachinar, it is believed, en route for Kabul. He said that he was not wanted at Kandahar, but he believed that Amanullah would soon become King again by the tribesmen's vote.
