PETONE SPORTS MEETING.
; Numerous entries have been received for the Peto'no. Amateur Athletic und Cycling Club's meeting,, which is to be held on the Petoiie Oval to-morrow afternoon. Entries in the men's running events total 187, and include such champions as Jenkins, Lander, and Veitch, as well as Eastwood/R.E.'Walker, Bayne, and Campbell. Wellington, lady- runners competing will have to be inth^eir best form to beat the Misses Jackson, 'of Carterton, and Miss lieuch and other -Valley ladies. Cycling on the banked'track" will be tho main feature of-,.. the,-'afternoon, tho star event being the five-mile race for the Laykold Cup, which has drawn a field of tweutyfpur. amateurs, from all over New Zealand. Among ■ the more 'prominent competitors will be Grose ajid, O'Brien, of Chris'tchurch, Adamson, of Wanganui, and Gane, ■Flctt, CiU'Swcll,; and Pca'rce, of Wellington. This field is probably the best amateur one ever got together > locally, and spectators arc assured of: an. excellent race. Special buses leave Lambton from 1 p.m.
