WELLINGTON'/ ASSOCIATION

The anuuul general meeting of the Honorary Justices' Association of'the .Wellington district was hold last night in the Magistrate's Court. Mr. T>. Keir presided over a gathering of some thirty {justices'. '...;..■■'

The report was taken as read, and, [with the balance-sheet, was adopted.

The Hon.' Registrar (Mr. I. Salek) previewed the events of the year, which had been, a most.successful one. A fcranch of the association had been established'at Nelson with 50 members. 'Although the association was not a 'benovolent assoeiatioii,itluid, as had so many institutions, come into the field »f assistance to people in prison and their dependants, and at Christmas had provided seasonal cheer. The members of the association were entertained at ;the Mt. Crawford prison with a splendid musical programme by the men themeelves, and were similarly entertained at the women's Borstal institution at Point Ealswell. The association had purchased a'piano which had been presented to the Prison Department, lie voiced an appreciation.of the goodwill extended the association by the Hon. ¥. J. Bolleaton, And said,that from the Hon. T. $£.. Wilford's long l-osiflcneo and courtesy ho' was sure they would have a '"friend :at Court;" . ,
