SHOOTING AFFRAY

ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

As the result of a shooting affray in Green's road, Papanui, this morning, Frederick Richardson, aged 56, a labourer, was arrested on a charge of attempting to murder John Armstrong, aged 42. Armstrong is now in hospital with a shot, wound in his back and pellets'in his head. Ho is expected to recover. The parties are'said to have been neighbours. The police allege that Armstrong was sliot after a quarrel, the cnuse of which is unknown. Neighbours heard the shot and rang for the police. Richardson made no attempt to evade arrest. Armstrom,.who now lives in the city, was 'visiting Richardson's house in Papanui when the affair occurred.
