Members of the Wellington College Old Boys' Football Club gathered on Wednesday evening to bid farewell to Mr. Jack Gauntlett, who is leaving for England. on a business trip. Mr. Gauntlett, who has been coaching the club's team for a number of years, and who was coach of the,, senior fifteen which won the championship two years ago, was presented with a travelling rug as a token of the esteem in which he is held by members of the club.

The death occurred at Epsom yesterday of Mr. Alexander Scholes, aged 62, telegraphs "The Post's" -Auckland correspondent. Born at Belmont, Wellington, the lato Mr. Seholes removed to Toko, Taranaki, where he engaged in farming. In 1902 he settled in the King Country, taking up land at Hangatiki. He resided there until eighteen months ago, when he removed to Auckland. He was a foundation member of the Waitomo County Council. In 1908 he became chairman and occupied that position for 10 years. He also served as a member of the Waikato Hospital Board and tho Waitara Licensing Committee. A supporter of the Liberal Party in polities, Mr. Scholes in ,1914. stood for Waikato against Mr. J. A. Young. The late Mr. Scholes, who was a Freemason, leaves a widow and one son and' two daughters.
