DRAMATIC SWIFTNESS
POLICE RAID IN DUBLIN AERESTS BEFOEE DAWN United Press Atsoclitlon—By Electrlo T*U-eraph-^Copyrleht. "Times" Cables. ■ : LONDON, 6th March. Thirty-nine arrests of young men living in Dublin and the suburbs followed with dramatic swiftness President Cosgrave's pronouncement last night. The police planned the coup for the small hours of the morning, and raided various houses before dawn, after a night's active preparation. All the arrested men'were in bed, and were ordered to dress. They were then hurried to bridewell Prison, closely guarded. Fourteen were released in the morning. The remainder-were very lively prisoners. The police had a strenuous time, and there were many smashed windows. The prisoners will probably be charged with damaging ; Government property, in addition to the .other charges, which are not yet revealed. Friends and relatives of the prisoners besieged Bridewell Prison, singing and shouting, the prisoners joining in the noise., ■' . . > Frank Fahy, one of De Valera's lieutenants, declares that he and his friends do not sympathise with the methods of assassination, but violence is likely to continue as long as Dail members are required, to take the oath of allegiance to a foreign King. Such horrible deeds by secret organisations are likely to continue until every section had free entry to/the Dail.
