AUNT TO PRISON CELL

AN ASTOUNDING STORY

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. An astounding story of crime and incitement to crime was revealed in the children's Court this morning, when a seventeen year old boy pleaded guilty to eighteen charges of theft involving £100, and his aunt, 1 Elsie Martha Deun's Wright, pleaded guilty to four charges of receiving goods stolen "by the child knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained. The circumstances outlined by. the police revealed that tho boy was ;i daring thief, and that his aunt egged him on in crimes and benefited by them. 1 Wright was sentenced, to six months' 1 imprisonment with hard labour, and the boy was placed under the care of the superintendent of child welfare with a recommendation that he bo sent to Weraroa. The police said: "Mrs. Wright is. the boy's aunt. The boy has been stealing for her; Ho told bis parents that he was at work, but every morning . at seven ho wont to his aunt'shouso and used it as a base for his operations. He would go back to his own home at about 6 o'clock. Each week- he would give his parents ten shillings, allegedly wages, but in reality the proceeds of some robbery." The Magistrate said: "This woman is dangerous in any community, and should be put out of the way. . She is sentenced to six months' imprisonment, with hard labour."
