CASE OF SUICIDE
(By Telegraph.—Presi Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, 6th March. Suicide while in a depressed state of mind was the verdiot of the Coroner,' Mr. Lawry, S.Mi, at an inquest into the death 'Of Peter Hunt, who'-was * found dead in his house at New Brighton last night. Evidence was given by friends of Hunt to the effect that he Buffered acutely from injuries, especially in cold, damp weather, always was of a morbid disposition, and recently seemed more than usually morbid. He had also been in a very excitable and nervous condition about 25th February, when- last seen alive. ■ On 21st February Hunt had complained of someone prowling round the house at night. ■
On a charge of having driven a motor-lorry in a negligent manner in Jervois quay, Albert Bell Shelbourne was fined £2 in the-Magistrate's Court to-day by Mr. T. B. M'Neil, S.M. He was ordered to pay Court costs £1 lls, and witnesses' expenses £1. The Magistrate said he did not look upon the offence as a. very serious one, as it appeared that it was duo mainly by the defendant's defective eyesight.
