Glide Away. The Australian-bred mare Glide Away was the outstanding performer of the Otahuhu Meeting in winning the two principal events. She was driven right out to win the Otahuhu Cup and evidently improved with the race, as she won again with a penalty of 24 yards in the Dominion Handicap. Although she is an aged mare, Glide Away ■ seems to be improving all the time and she may. yet'take a better record than 4min 28 2-ssec,' which is her best to date. She has been very, profitable for W. J. Tomkinson, who imported her from Victoria early in the season. Her winnings in ■ the Dominion amount to £2455 and a gold cup valued at 100 guineas. Consistent. Consistency: has been a feature of the latest efforts of Jean M'Elwyn, and two more minor placings went down to her credit at the Otahuhu Meeting. She paced true to form in the two leading events by registering within a fraction of the same time over the two miles each day, and, although she was never prominent in her third outing, a winning turn for her should not be far distant. Jean M'Elwyn has never been regarded as-a, genuine stayer, but she is steadily improv-' ing in stamina, and should yet take a better record than 4min 30 2-ssec, which is her best up to the present. For Later On. - | Three unplaced efforts went down against Native Prince at the Otahuhu Meeting, but he displayed a good'deal of dash on the second day, when he made two appearances. About four furlongs from home he was travelling well in second position in the Dominion Handicap, when ho broke ; and spoilt what appeared to be an excellent chance. At his next appearance he paced a splendid race to finish fourth in the Coates Handicap and showed a lot of the dash that characterised; hia efforts earlier in the season. Native Prince should bo one to keep in mind for the autumn. Another Young Pacer. The Oamaru-traincd pacer Nelson de Oro, who raced well at the Forbury Park Trotting Club last November^ accounted for the Jellicoe Handicap on the concluding day of the Invercargill Trotting Club's Meeting. He is a very useful pacer by the successful sire Key de Oro Irora Eftie Bingen—a mare who won races at both .pacing and trotting. Nelson do Oro is only a four-year-old and is likely to be seen to even better advantage next season. He finished second to Fair Wave in the Cup on the first day. Miscellaneous. : The Abbey is not improving at the bar-, ■rier; On his recent form the first time i he leaves correctly he will be hard to beat. The' four-year-old Harvest Child should be a.very useful performer next season. He is a solid, young pacer. Tamahine,,''who won at the 'Waikato Meeting on Saturday, is one of the most promising young trotters seen 1 out in Blow- \ class icvents recently. She is a four-year-old mare by, Nelson Bingen from Hurikai. She trotted two good races at the Otahuhu Meeting, -and should be equal to showing improved form when she has had more experience.
