PERSONAL MATTERS

The Prime Minister (the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) attended the Rotary Club lunch at Gisborne yesterday, and was given a rousing reception. Sir Joseph Ward left Gisborno for Wellington, to-day.

Tho Minister of Public Works (th« Hon. E. A. Ransom) returned last evening from the Wairarapa district.

The Minister of Defence and Justice! (the Hon. T. M. Wilford) returned las* evening from Wanganui.

The Minister of Health (the Hon. At J. StaJlworthy) will leave to-morrow evening for Auckland.

Mr. H. H. Sterling, general manager of the New Zealand Railways, returned yesterday from Napier.

Mr. Fred Phclan has been • appointed service officer to the Wellington Automobile Club at Palmerston North.

Dean J. A. Julius has been appoint' ed representative of the dioceso of Christen urch on the Broadcasting Advisory Committee, in placo of Archdeacon 1\ N. Taylor, who has tendered his resignation.

The Mayor of Petone (Mr. D. M'Keazie) and the Mayor of Eastbourne (Mr. H. M. Jones), together with the Town Clerks of the respective boroughs, Messrs. W. F. Sturman and C. L. Bishop, left Wellington to-day to attend the Municipal Conference and the Town Clerks' Conference at Wanga« nui. The Town Clerk of Lower Hutt (Mr. B. S. Knox); also left for Wanga.nui, and the Mayor (Mr. W. T. Strand} is leaving this evening.
